In Norse mythology, the serpent represented the god of intelligence and cunning. This name would be a diminutive of Adelinda ("the noble serpent"). St. Adelinda was a 10th century German nun who returned to the convent to atone for the sins of her sons. Linda also means pretty and cute in Spanish.
